7 Passive Solar Greenhouse Features

Learn the features I added to my passive solar greenhouse that keeps it warm and saves money on heating costs.

Knee walls

Putting in insulated half walls where light is not needed helps keep the heat in and the cold out

Water Barrel

Adding a water barrel will help to store heat during the day and release it at night.

North Wall

Having an insulated north wall without glazing will keep the cold out in winter.

A stone or concrete floor will absorb heat during the day and radiate it out at night.

Glazing the roof with twin-wall polycarbonate helps to keep heat in better than glass.

Temperature Sensor

A remote temperature sensor keeps me informed on the temperature in the greenhouse.

Dryer Vent

Running a dryer vent through the greenhouse to the outside helps warm the greenhouse when the dryer is running.
